We founded PNW Armed Liberals (PNWAL) early in 2025 as a way to connect with other non-MAGA gun owners in our local areas to have some known friendlies to shoot and train with.
Chris, Co-FounderPNWAL is intended to foster a welcoming, safe, and diverse community of non-traditional gun owners, with a goal of normalizing guns and gun ownership among the left leaning population here in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.
Learn MoreWe're providing firearm familiarization classes for members who are new to firearm ownership, radio classes for contingency communication, and more!
We're building an inclusive community of gun owners in the PNW who may not feel comfortable in traditional gun culture: queer folks, people of color, women, and working-class PNWers.
We're not just focused on bettering our aim, we're aiming to better our communities. Protecting our rights is paramount and we're showing Olympia that gun rights are human rights.
We help newer members learn safety and proficiency with their firearms. More experienced members may benefit from more advanced training, including working toward competition shooting.
We're building a place where people feel comfortable to be themselves. We believe in safety, skill-building, and standing up for each other. If you want to help build a firearm culture rooted in care, not fear, there's a place for you here.
We show up. We're available to provide a presence at community events like Pride, 50501 Peaceful Protests, and anti-ICE demonstrations. We provide water, first aid, and information for prospective gun owners.
I've gotten the community I wanted; buddies to try out new ranges. As a black woman, it's always a little off-putting to go into these spaces that have been typically dominated by right-wing white men.
In the last year or so, I've become my friends' go-to guy for gun questions and have been helping folks purchase their first firearms. One of them said "hey, you should join this group I found." I was immediately interested as we align perfectly with my passion for teaching new shooters and arming my fellow queers.
I joined because I liked the ideas presented on Reddit in a recruitment post. I've gotten some good and friendly advice, motivation to step up my practices and look into training to be an RSO. I feel like this community's presence in my life will lead to better things for myself and others I will encounter, and that's healthy.
